On the occasion of World Biodiversity Day, May 22, 2006 and World Environment Day, June 5, 2006, essay competitions were organized among school students of Pokhara Valley. Miss Shrinkhala Bhattarai (Class 10) from St Mary's High School became the first in the competition entitled 'Importance of Biodiversity Conservation' and Mr. Binod Gurung (Class 10) from West Point Boarding School became the first in the competition entitled 'Importance of Environment Education'. School teaching programs were also organized by CBEC on the occasion of World Environment Day, 2006 in two schools.
